Brief History of Fortress Community Church

Fortress Community Church began in August 1995 as an Inland Empire Couple's Bible Study for Victory Bible Full Gospel Baptist Church of Pasadena, California. The Bible Study met weekly under the leadership of Pastor Lawrence Witherspoon, and soon began to grow.

 

With the leading of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Witherspoon prayed about starting a church in the Inland Empire. On Sunday, February 18, 1996, with the blessing of the late Bishop James E. Henry of Victory Bible Full Gospel Baptist Church, Fortress Community Church held its first worship celebration at its present Chino location.

 

God has been faithful and Fortress continues to grow under the anointed teaching and capable leadership of Pastor Witherspoon. What began as a couples Bible Study has grown. Fortress is a Word-centered, Gift-based ministry that is equipped to serve the Chino Valley and Inland Empire communities.
